1. Hitler = Roman Catholic
|
Stalin willing to kill an atheist and save a clergy member who wouldn't oppose his rule.
Mao was a religion unto himself. I realize you're taking a sort of anti-God approach here that I agree with, but by grouping Hitler, Stalin and Mao together, you're implying they were all atheists. I'd argue they ENCOURAGED theism, with themselves as the Gods, much as N Korea now has a theocracy with Kim Jong Un as the Dear Leader Lord. |

all atheists.
Me thinks you have been hanging around the Religion forum too much and reading one particular poster's comments too much. |

Last edited Thu Oct 4, 2012, 01:12 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) and it looks like superstitition is alive and well within the Russian Orthodox Church. I didn't know that holy water had healing properties. So kind of humblebum to post this.
And to think I gave him credit that he was smart enough not to post in the A&A forum. What was I thinking. |

9. I get the joke, though it perpetrates inaccurate labeling of mass murderers as atheists.
|
Hitler certainly wasn't an atheist. His characterization as an atheist comes entirely from Christians who simply don't want him associated with their religion for obvious reasons, and the idea that any mass murderer could not possibly believe in the Christian God. And though I don't know a lot of specifics about Mao and Stalin, I do know that their versions of Communism (much like North Korea's Kim dynasty) shares a lot more in common with modern day religions than any atheist organization I've come across.
I also know that Mao had both a Buddhist and a Christian body guard. Not sure how much choice they had in the matter, but it is a fact. Here's the Christian body gaurd (Yu Hai) performing his praying mantis wushu routine (wushu is the official name of martial arts in China): |
