The lights of London are captured by ESA astronaut Andre Kuipers, from his vantage point high above the Earth on board the International Space Station.
He has been capturing jaw-dropping views since he arrived on the space station in December, and tweeting them to his followers from his Twitter profile.

Europe at night captured on 2 April 2012. In shot is the Soyuz TMA-03M module that carried André to the ISS in December 2011, and a Russian Progress freighter.

Wisps of sea ice at Okhotsk, on Russia's east coast, photographed on 31 March 2012.

ATV Edoardo Amaldi, docked with the ISS, fires its thrusters as part of the station's reboosting process, which puts the ISS back into a higher orbit. Over time, the drag forces acting on the station bring it closer to Earth, so these reboosting procedures allow it to remain in orbit for a much greater time.

Moonset, captured on 7 April 2012

edit - thanks spell check

4. WOW

Thanks for sharing!

That deep-space view in the 4th one is truly amazing. I always dreamed of going up there just to witness how much more stars can be seen without any interference. It looks like every square millimeter is packed full of stars, large or small!

9. Ringworld! Cool.

Really stupid idea to build one. Wonderful book, though.
