Fire ant art

Pouring molten aluminum down a nest seems like a drastic way to get rid of them, but the result was well worth it: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=9c4_1386672510

1. Great, now they're going to come back as tiny terminators.

2. Fascinating. It's like fire ants live in cities, and these ants live in the suburbs:

3. that was different

and amazing. I wonder what it would look like if someone did that to a colony of those "crazy ants" they have down south. And I wonder what kind of ants the two examples here are from.

4. So was this art created by kiling all the ants?

I'm curious if this was a living colony or an abandoned one. If they killed thousands of ants to make a sculpture, that's morbid and unethical, isn't it?

6. Obviously, you have never met a fire ant

and considering they're an invasive species, I'd say they're fair game.

9. They are awful creatures

Plus, they are horribly invasive. The world is better off without them.
