Gorgeous Patterns of the Sea: Macro Photographs of Starfish

Photographer Alexander Semenov has done it again. This time the Russian biologist takes us on an up-close encounter with starfish, although looking at these neon carpets I had no idea what they were at first. Even after covering Alexanderís previous work with jellyfish, or Felix Salazarís images of coral Iím constantly amazed at natureís ability to create such vibrant beauty.

6. no pedicellariae in sight though, even at the link....

Lots of spines, dermal papillae, and many pics feature a madreporite, but none have unambiguous pedicellariae. Weird.

Beautiful pics, nonetheless.

8. I think this is sooooo beautiful. I love star fish. I use to love to pick them up

and hold them in your hand. The wiggle feeling was funny to feel. But I always put them back in the water. Such great memories.

13. You all need to see all of his work and help him out too...

After seeing these I found all of his photos and thay are all amazing. The Jellyfish especially stunning.

he is trying to build a research facility in Russia and is trying to fund it. So if you can, buy some of his work. http://clione.ru/gallery

I am talking to him about using his work in my Non Profit start up (Actually more of reboot really)........
