DNA project aims to count Scots redheads
A project is being launched which aims to find out how many people in Scotland carry the red hair gene.
Researchers from the ScotlandsDNA project also hope to discover why Scotland appears to have the most red-headed people in the world. Only about 1-2% of the world's population has red hair, but in Scotland the figure is much higher at around 13% or about 650,000 people. The information will be used to make a "ginger" map of the British Isles. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-20237511 ![]()

3. If its available your side
|
then watch this : "We'll Take Manhatten".
Winter 1962, and cockney photographer David Bailey and unknown model Jean Shrimpton are sent to New York for a prestigious Vogue photo shoot. This drama tells the story of a wild week, their love affair, terrible fights with their fashion editor - and how two young people with no such intention happened to change the world of fashion forever. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01b674s If you search individual google pics of Shrimpton and Bailey from those days you'll see how well cast that was. |

2. I'd be interested to know the percentage in Sweden
|
I've been under the impression that Scotland's red hair was introduced by the Vikings.
I went to an historically Swedish college, and the percentage of redheads was unusually high. I also have a red beard, inherited from my Swedish ancestors. |
