Happy Ash Wednesday!

I was the only altar guild at the 7:00 am service. I'm still learning and afraid of making mistakes, but the priest came along behind me and fixed my mistakes. I love altar guild!

On into Lent...

1. I'm singing this evening at the longest service of the year

First everyone comes up and gets their ashes. Then the same people come up again and receive Communion. During the imposition of ashes, we sing Allegri's "Misere Mei."

2. That sounds wonderful

We have a choral service his evening. I love the early morning service. I love being the first person at the church in the morning.

3. Thank you and same to you and all.

Are you Catholic, Episcopalian, Orthodox, something else? I am Episcopalian and am heading out the door for a 6 pm service.

God bless you all.

6. I also enjoy altar guild

And I'm often a communion server (Lutheran). I like feeling that I've contributed to making the service special. Was not able to make Ash Wed. service this year due to my mom being in the hospital.

9. I used to have a Jewish friend

Who would wish me a happy Ash Wednesday and a happy Good Friday each year, and I would wish him a happy Yom Kippur and a happy Tisha B'Av. It was a private joke between the two of us.

11. Fun!

When I was little, I went to an Episcopal school, and my best friends there were Jewish.
