http://tribune.com.pk/story/822484/hate-speech-men-who-attacked-charlie-hebdo-are-heroes/Activists from the Tehreek Sirat-i-Mustaqeem, the Namoos-i-Risalat Mahaz and the Sunni Tehreek attended the rally. Tehreek Sirat-i-Mustaqeem leader Maulana Ashraf Asif Jalali led the rally. Mian Waleed Ahmed Sharaqpuri, Maulana Muhammad Shadab Raza Qadri, Maulana Muhammad Ali Naqashbandi and Maulana Raza-i-Mustafa were among the prominent participants.
Jalali said those who had attacked the magazine were heroes. He said they were neither Pakistanis nor had they obtained religious education from Pakistani madrassahs. They were Muslims and we praise them for whatever they have done.
Frighteningly, I've heard sentiments similar to this expressed right here on DU:

(19,705 posts)who said that?

(49,533 posts)But sadly I can't rule out the 2nd part, given how much has already shocked me.

(12,148 posts)I admit I am not omniscient even to what goes on at DU though I visit regularly every day.

(49,533 posts)But I didn't.
However, I have seen people blame "the West" and its satire for inciting the violence.

(12,148 posts)You insinuated that DUers called terrorists heroes. The fact that some recognize that people can do heinous things ins response to perceived insults is not the same.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)I said "similar sentiments" - which blame the blasphemers for provoking the attacks. That much has been disgustingly clear.

(12,148 posts)Your use of "synonyms" is similar to the way the media types use "synonyms".

(49,533 posts)The similar sentiments of "blasphemy" having provoked the attacks, and harming Muslims around the world are what I've seen.

(41,190 posts)And no, while people on DU differ on the extent to which it's acceptable to show active disrespect for religions, NO ONE on DU has equated 'blasphemy' with 'terrorism' (there was one now-tombstoned member who used to imply that militant atheism was on the same plane as totalitarian Communism; but he was an exception, and no one has said that blasphemy is terrorism).
Anyone who supports the Kouachis is quite dangerously insane; fortunately few people do so!
