Introducing The Faith Shift Series

It's a matter of statistics.

The Convservative 'christian' claptrap spouted by Neoconservatives has nothing to do with Christ or Christianity. That's simply the name that they've branded their form of high-and-mighty mutant morality that they try to force on the rest of us. They're more like the Pharisees in the Bible whom Christ called 'spawn of vipers'. He said they were like decorated tombs, to paraphrase. Beautiful and painted white on the outside and lit with torches but inside they were full of bones and dead men and filth.

Peter Popoff, exposed on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show by James Randi, went bankrupt, but he's back in action doing the same faith healing scam.

Benny Hinn, another fraud, milking sick people to enrichen his coffers.

Robert Tilton, speaking in tongues while he grovels for people to send more money.

It goes on and on. People using religion to get wealthy at the cost of people who probably cannot afford it. Dispicible.

Don't get me started about the fundie churches who have so politicized their religion that they might as well change their church signs to GOP Church.

I grew up attending the United Church of Christ aka, the Congregational church. I stopped attending when I was 13, with the rest of my family. But we had all been regular attendees since I can remember. My father was even the Pres of the deacons.

So although I despise religions these days, for what they are doing, I am not against people who are religious.

Rather it is their actions which make the difference, that raise my ire, my condemnation.

Wasn't it about 5 decades ago that Barry Goldwater warned us of this same thing?

I hear Arianna interviewed about how she wanted to change the Religion portion of her site. While sometimes she infuriates me, I found her discussion of this very thoughtful and sincere.
