He would invite the people who knocked on our door to proselytize in for a debate. It was always civil and sometimes a weekly event until they knew he could not be converted.

Once as a little girl I made some disparaging remark about religious beliefs. I thought he'd be proud. It was the opposite. I learned the word sacrilegious that day and got a lecture about respect for beliefs.

I'm not a religious person but sometimes on my profile page religion is listed as my favorite group. That's because this is a welcoming group and you often post good articles. I come here to read and discuss.

that discusses a group of people.

Here's another quote from Brainy Quotes (in fact it lives on the same page as Roosevelt's quote):

"The first complete sentence out of my mouth was probably that line about consistency being the hobgoblin of small minds." - Philip Johnson

Edit to add: dear jurors, in no way am I calling the OP "small minded" - it's simply a response, nothing more, nothing less.

A cynical person might suspect you just posted this to try and pretend you're better than others you don't like.

And some prefer not to... apparently.

R&K for the OP.
