Gustav Potthoff: "I'm allowed to be with someone of my own kind."

Gustav Potthoff demanded a godless attorney.
After all, the Pine Hills-area man denies the existence of God and as he told a judge Thursday after allegedly attacking his roommate with a butter knife because he thought the man was Jesus he deserves a like-minded legal representative.
But Potthoff is also penniless. So the judge told him he better pony up if he wanted his own atheist attorney. Otherwise, he gets a public defender.

The judge told Potthoff after the suspect also rejected the idea of an agnostic attorney that the request would likely be impossible to fill unless the indigent man paid for his own attorney.

(12,799 posts)That's pretty funny.
This guy's unbelief is different from mine. He may not like God, but I think he probably believes in one.

okasha
(11,573 posts)but the guy doesn't need an atheist attorney to tell him to take his meds and cop a plea. At need, even a layperson can do it.

(2,262 posts)In any case, note that this atheist 1) threw something as his roommate; no record yet, of actual contact. Then he 2) "came after" said roommate, with a mere breadknife. 3) But no actual injury is recorded.
This is somewhat different from the cases that we examined earlier, of religious "filicide": religious folks actually killing their own children.

However I'm pretty sure that this fellow did not get the idea of Jesus in his head from atheist indoctrination.
