1. buy it! Great price and NIB is, I suspect, very rare.

2. Depends

Are you buying it as a piece of history or collectible? Or are you buying simply to shoot?
As strictly a shooter, I don't think of the P38 as an especially good gun. The trigger is heavy and the sights are miitary and thus not very good for target work. Also a Walther P38/P1 post war for $399 NIB is either a real steal or you are being taken for a ride. 2011 Blue Book indicates a 100% P38 to be worth $800; $675 for a P1 |

5. Ok, that's a fair price for a P1
|
2011 Blue Book for a P1:
100% 675; 98% 550 95% $400. I like older guns, but the P-38/P-1 isn't one I expect to buy, I fired one and was unimpressed. It may be historically significant for it's military service and design features that were new or not widely seen before, but strictly as a gun to shoot, there are much better options out there. |

You need a C&R license. I'm happy with it. Looks good, and they're not making more. On edit--400 sounds like a pretty good price if you can see it before hand and you don't have a C&R (003FFL). If you ordered it through the mail, your 001 FFL would charge you at minimum 20 bucks to receive it and register it to you. |

10. Woah, that's a dandy.
|
Better shape than mine, and CAI rated it as excellent.
Yours looks almost pristine except for tiny scuffs on the grips. Nice catch. I got a free holster with mine too, heh, a polyester camo deal that's essentially worthless. But I do like the solid feel of an all metal handgun. Polymer isn't my thing . . . And it is a real Walther. |
