1. Very cool! I like the colors - definitely a 'winter is coming' sort of feel...
|
Have you you seen signs of the cat in the area?

2. Some probable scat but no other sign yet.

There is a large area, for my neck of the woods, for her to roam so it is the proverbial needle in a haystack. I have found what seems to be as good a spot as any to concentrate on so I hope that by spending as much time as I can there I might get lucky.
No matter, I feel like it's a kind of zen sitting still as long as I do and all the other wildlife goes about their business not knowing I am there. |

Here in central Texas, I have gray foxes coming to my bird feeder, in broad daylight. Who knew that wild dogs were so fond of shelled sunflower seeds? Beautiful animals..... |

What a beautiful animal. Since it appears to be looking right at the camera I'm wondering of it ran off right you snapped the pic?

6. Actually it didn't see me at first.

When the coyote heard the shutter click it stood still. It still didn't see me and then started walking toward me. I stood up and it stopped, stared and then ran off.
I wasn't camouflaged or anything. I have found that if you just sit still long enough you won't be noticed. The trick is being able to be absolutely still for a long time. About the only thing I move is my head. There was a pack around me and the only way I knew it was because the first one that passed by behind me smelled me after he got down wind and it freaked him. He started howling like crazy and kept that up a good ten minutes. I guess warning the others. That first one never did see me. Kind of neat. |
