SEC Football, where's the love?

Last Saturday 2 games offered up agony and ecstasy of epic proportion!

Texas A&M at Auburn was unforgettable, as the magic that has sustained Auburn for so many years came to an end, and an 18 year old true freshman quarterback made it a game. For Auburn, miracle catches were followed by miracle fumbles. What goes around, comes around.

This was followed by Alabama at LSU in Death Valley, ..."where dreams come to die." Ole Miss died there, now for 57 minutes it looked like Alabama's dreams were ending in a typical SEC old-school slugfest where the bigger, faster, stronger pound each other into submission. When Yeldon lost the ball due to excruciating pain, and somehow Alabama held LSU to a field goal, and then for the first time in the entire game put together an Alabama drive, and then KICKED a tying field goal to go to overtime, well, agony and ecstasy again!

That was a remarkable 6 hours of entertainment, wasn't it?

Oh yes -- No.1 Mississippi State comes to Alabama this Saturday. Are you ready for some football?

My glorious Ducks rose from 4 to 3 this week. If you haven't seen the video of the CRAZY "fumble" Utah made in the game against Oregon on the 8th, find the video. Last I looked on sportscenter, it had about 6 million views.

Looks like if MM can win through the rest of the season, Oregon will make the 4 team playoff.

I don't think picking 4 teams is going to be any more satisfying than picking 1 and 2 for championship. Unless we get more 2-loss teams, some arguably great teams will be on the outside looking in. I don't care what conference, when you play against your serious conference rivals, things happen.

8-team playoffs seems inevitable.

Part of the "fun" is you never know what might happen. It gets really nerve-racking.

If we want clean playoffs we need a few more one-loss teams to lose, Ohio State and TCU did not cooperate today.

3 more 1 loss teams playing now, something should happen to clear the field.

5. No. 1 Miss State plays in Tuscaloosa (Alabama)

Florida State plays a dangerous rival Miami, Auburn plays rival Georgia. Ohio State and Minnesota might be interesting.

7. LSU/Bama was officiating failure

That "somehow" was a ticky tack personal foul that cost LSU 15 yards after the fumble. Of course, LSU would still have been okay if they'd kicked it deep instead of squibbing it under the leadership if stuttering fool special teams coach Bradley Dale Peveto.

MSU could beat the Tide, but the SEC knows that having them lose is its best chance at fielding 2 playoff teams. Look for another steaming pile of bullshit to occur.

8. Is the gist of your opinion...

that the SEC is run like Professional Wrestling?

MSU could beat Alabama, but the commissioner comes in, "Sorry, boys, it's not your week," right before the game?

On the other hand, unpopular calls are part of the game -- look at Notre Dame at Florida State, those officials actually gave the game to FSU, right?

And I can't tell you how many games I have seen where kicking the football has been the nemesis. Alabama has a history of ridiculous kicking. Forget Alabama at Auburn last year? Even LSU 9, Alabama 6 a couple years ago? Oregon and Boise State lost seasons on the kicking game?

The marvel of football is when it all comes together, and we get games that keep you on the edge of your seat. We had 2 games last Saturday, I hope we have many more to come.

9. It's not wrestling

It's business. MSU can lose and still get into the playoff if they win out, which they will do against Vanderbilt and likely against a decimated Ole Miss. Two teams in the playoff means a huge increase in revenue.

I don't blame the calls for LSU's loss. They beat themselves for the most part. It's just inconsistent that many things that were ignored were suddenly called in that crucial period of the game. Watch it and decide for yourself. I thought that should at least be offsetting, if there was any call to begin with.

10. I see unsportsmanlike conduct, and that's what the ref saw.

It's almost always the last punch thrown that gets the penalty. That's why coaches tell the players not to do it.

Losing is always a bitter pill, what ifs and what shoulda's. It's college football! I had to learn it takes 60 minutes of opportunity to crush your opponent, if you don't do it anything can happen. Alabama held LSU, LSU held Alabama - it was a great game and an epic win. LSU has had a fair share of getting Alabama on the ropes in the last decade, so this is a great rivalry. Thank God it only happens once (or twice) a year!

Bama - Auburn last night? What a nail-biter!!

Auburn is here to stay, but the miracles ran out for them this year.

Thank God and Roll Tide! I can go to work tomorrow, and not have to pay off the bet I made, singing "War Eagle" at lunch in the lunchroom.

14. Very interesting game.

My life has been shortened as I could feel brain cells dying as Alabama let Auburn hang around.

After that second quick touchdown by Alabama, the cameras caught Saban yelling at Kiffin for passing too much. Saban did not want a shootout. Then, as ordered, Alabama run, run, try to pass (4 interceptions).

Apparently Sims had to fight for his job and then threw 2 Cooper touchdowns in a row, and Auburn ran out of steam.

The ACC beat 4 SEC (East) teams Saturday, not a good showing. We did get Missouri for the SEC Championship game, I think better than playing Georgia, so one break. And justice for Ole Miss, took out Alabama and Mississippi State.

The SEC West is getting better and better but the cannibalization is dangerous now, these teams have to play championship quality every week. It is very nerve racking!
