Question for the birders of DU.

Today I driving around the field today in the Arctic and saw what appeared to be two cranes or heron or something like them. I took a picture of them with my cell phone but they didn't come out very well.

Question:

Are these birds normally this far north? I have never seen them in up here in my nineteen years of working up here. Can anyone give me a clue. Thanks

1. It looks like sandhill cranes get pretty far up there

But if it's particularly far north http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ might be interested in the sighting.

What else do you see up there?

Geese (Canadian , snow, etc)
Ducks
Hawks
Snow owls
Ptarmigan
Fishers
Many more.
