Goodwood Revival 2012 shot in vintage Super 8.

The Goodwood Revival is a classic sports car race that brings together vintage race cars that are no longer competitive. The cars were hacked into racers long ago and are beyond returning to street cars, so vintage racing allows them to return to their former glory, and The Goodwood is the premier event for such racing.

This clip presents an excellent overview of the cars and the unique British pageantry in a style gone by with a 1940s type narrative:

3. i'm a huge fan of vintage auto racing..

they have a race every year at the naval base on North Island. the cars are great, mostly late 60s early 70s Trans Am, but also some Can Am racers, as well as your mid-60s Lotus, Lolas, and Ferraris. the course sucks though as it's on the tarmac.

if you get a chance, check out a film called "Champions Forever." it documents the 1975 Gran Prix and has some amazing footage. a few racers died that season, and the film has some rather frighteningly grim moments.

7. I'm fortunate to be located half way between two great events

This first one of the season is to my West at The Pittsburgh Vintage Gran Prix. It's the only vintage race still driven on city streets:

These were taken at Pittsburgh a couple years ago. Those stone walls aren't very forgiving:





The other is to my West at Mid Ohio Raceway. Since it's at a fast road course, it has more heavy iron like Camaros and 'Vettes. Last year the field included this rare polished alloy Aston Martin:

4. We have a 3-day event every Spring

Everything from early 1908 -or-so Roadsters to Maclarens, Lolas, etc.

Huge wine and food tents - all free (great wines, too - free).

I doubt a total of five thousand people show up.

The racing is real and no prisoners taken.

8. I liked the vintage style of the video, but...

Would have liked more footage of the cars, and less of people.

Kidding, but true. Great job and I really enjoyed all of it. Makes me want to dust off my Super 8 and start "filming" again.
