1. Wow indeed!

Makes up for the loss of Victor Martinez.

Tough for Cleveland.

2. Neat

Tigers fans will have fond memories of his father's playing days, so it should be a good match.

Cecil Fielder was surprised too...

5. I have fond memories of watching him hit a ball to the wall at Tigers Stadium

when he was just a little guy.

3. Nine years, $214 million.

A little over $23,770,000 a year -- could feed a lot of hungry people.

4. It did! They said they weren't going there.

I guess they were hustling.

It will be interesting to see what they do at first base. Cabrera to Right now that Magglio is done. I wonder.

6. Welcome home, Prince!

Looking forward to this season!

Word here is Cabrera will play third and Inge will move to second.

7. My father is hearing on the local news there that it could be a DH/1st base split.

The right field idea for Cabrera is interesting to me.

8. Yeah, likely he'll split DH and 1st this year...

then probably become a full-time DH when Martinez comes back from injury, provided Victor isn't traded. Martinez is on the books for $25 million in 2013 and 2014.

10. I Think That Prince and His Dad Are Estranged

They don't speak to one another. Is that still the case?

11. I got that sense from the article I linked above

Cecil seemed to be reading some tea leaves rather than actually talking to his son, based on the way he was surprised by the signing.
