It's official...Tampa is full of idiots

In the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, three of their quarterbacks have a combined three Pro Bowl appearances: one each for Brad Johnson, Jeff Garcia and Trent Dilfer. Exciting list.

That’s 39 seasons of mostly below average to flat-out terrible quarterback play. How bad is it? Josh Freeman is third all-time in passing yardage in team history. Johnson, by most statistical measures and for being the starting quarterback on a Super Bowl champion, probably has to be considered the greatest Buccaneers quarterback. (The best quarterback to ever play for Tampa Bay was Steve Young, but Young was never good for the Buccaneers in large part because of a terrible supporting cast.)

[Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football is back: Sign up for a league today!]

The Buccaneers hope their quarterback history started to change on Thursday night, when they made Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston the top pick of the 2015 NFL draft.

A lot more has been said about Winston the person rather than Winston the player, and there will be plenty of eyes on Winston to see if any of his off-field red flags hinder his NFL career. But there’s a reason the Buccaneers selected Winston, and that’s to become the greatest quarterback in franchise history, no matter how low that bar has been set over nearly four decades of Bucs football.

he's an Aaron Hernandez waiting to happen in terms of making bad decisions.

Alleged rapist/shoplifter vs. good looking full of potential kid from Oregon -> I'd go with the kid from Oregon and train him up (much as the Packers did w/Aaron Rodgers)

Apparently he's dumb enough to believe we're dumb enough to think his latest "explanation" over this WASN'T just something he pulled out of his a**

Roger had a tough week, but still ended up winning, thank God.

on the subject of drafting players with questionable backgrounds.

That said, I don't see Winston has having the mental fortitude to succeed in the NFL. I think he will be another in a long history of bad quarterbacks on the Bucs. It's not even "just" the rape charge, which alone should be enough to disqualify him given how much protection FSU and the Tallahassee police department had to give him to get that to skate.

It's the little shit like stealing crab legs, or stealing free soda, or the picture of the crab legs being posted after being drafted. It's the not realizing those sorts of stupid little things matter. To me, it shows he lacks the discipline to be great.

I think that the Bucs will win a few more games this year, but I think that Winston won't put in the time to grow as NFL defenses learn his game, meaning he won't have long term success.

4. The Patriots wouldn't have touched Winston even if they had the chance.

I would like to think they learned their lesson with Hernandez.

I don't disagree that the Patriots knew of his illegal activities as a Gator even though Urban Meyer had a habit of covering for his players; I was extremely disappointed in them for signing him.

I honestly wonder if Ray Lewis was a Patriot or a member of any other team would they have released him for his "obstruction of justice charge" resulting from lying to the police that he wasn't at the murder scene. He was there and knows what happened.

I was so proud of Robert Kraft's wife Myra (RIP), for her part in the release of Christian Peter in 1996 who was another player they shouldn't have signed. He had a HORRIBLE background.

He got picked up by the Giants the next season.

Peter was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fifth round of the 1996 NFL Draft. Only a month before the draft, he notched his eighth arrest in seven years, this time for grabbing a woman's throat in a Kearney, Nebraska bar.[6] The pick set off a firestorm of criticism from the Boston area press, Patriots fans and women's groups, as well as Myra Kraft, wife of Patriots owner Robert Kraft.[7] After learning more about Peter's violent history, the Patriots relinquished the rights to Christian only a week after the draft. The team said that Christian's behavior was "incompatible with our organization's standards of acceptable conduct."[8] According to The Boston Globe, Myra Kraft, the wife of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, personally demanded that the team cut all ties with Peter.[3] It was the first time in NFL history that a drafted player had been waived by a team before the start of training camp.[9]

As a result of the backlash, Christian was unable to catch on with another NFL team for the 1996 season. The New York Giants signed him in 1997 as a free agent, on condition that he go through counseling for alcohol abuse, attention deficit disorder and anger management.[10] He went on to play six years with the Giants, Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears.

Told Tampa Bay to shove it and decided to play pro baseball and then play NFL part-time as a hobby for Oakland.
