Chihuahuas win 11 of their final 14 games. Finish at .500 for the season.
El Paso's Chihuahuas gave their loyal fans one more parting gift on a sparkling, hot Monday afternoon a 10-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees.
The Chihuahuas finished their inaugural season with a flourish, winning 11 of their final 14 games, winning four of their final five and their final three games to reach the .500 mark on the season, a 72-72 record.
Yet another outstanding crowd came for the show, a gathering of 9,027 ignoring the heat and relishing one more day from the Boys of Summer at beautiful Southwest University Park.
"We haven't been at .500 since the sixth game of the season," Chihuahua manager Pat Murphy said. "And we just got overwhelming support for a team that was .500. We had to play our first 28 on the road (while the stadium was being completed), we had so many injuries, we had so many guys going up to the Major Leagues. It's a credit to this city, to the fans and to the Chihuahua staff. They provided us with the opportunity to make all this happen."
