He is a good story. Sired by Lucky Pulpit, a cheap speed stallion, and out of a nickel mare. He has already outrun his pedigree by about a half mile. His trainer was the exercise rider for the great Swaps, winner of the 1955 Derby over fellow Hall of Famer Nashua. I hope he gets it done on Saturday.

Great photo by Barbara Livingston of California Chrome from yesterday. He is tucked up and fit. See his long body? That is the body of a horse that can get a distance of ground. He's not built like a sprinter which is what his breeding says he should be. Can you tell I like this horse? I think he is gonna run this group off their feet on Saturday.
