Alabama offers scholarship to eighth-grader

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama extended a handful of scholarship offers to recruits during Saturday's junior day, but none more surprising than the one given to Dylan Moses, an eighth-grader from Baton Rouge, La.

The 2017 prospect, who was also offered a scholarship by LSU last summer, made the trip to Tuscaloosa with his father, Edward Moses Jr.

"For Dylan, excitement spilled over," Moses Jr. said. "When he heard those words from Coach Saban, 'We're offering you,' you could see him light up. It was shocking because we were going in thinking we were just going to get a tour of what Alabama has to offer.

"To hear, 'You're impressive, keep your grades up, we want you to come here, and we're offering you a scholarship now,' I can't even put that into words."

Well, if he reads at an 8th grade level, then he's already ready to graduate from Bama.

3. A 6'1" 215 lb 8th grade running back?

That really sounds dangerous to me.

Why not let him skip high school? Sort of like opting out of his last 4 years of high school.

Or go straight to the NFL draft from 8th grade.

4. They are already falling behind LSU.

The SEC is out of control.

10. LSU offered him a scholarship last July

He has been attending LSU summer football camps since he was 10.

His father is an Attorney and seems like a good dad in interview.

11. I hope his dad keeps a level head about all this then.

It seems likely that the young man will be less advanced than his peers as he ages and they catch up. I kind of doubt he will retain his dominance in college, but who knows?

12. I also hope his dad keeps his son level headed.

Heck, he might not even be playing football by the time he is of college age 4 years from now.
