Carmelo Anthony Suspended 1 Game

NEW YORK (AP) - Carmelo Anthony has been suspended one game by the NBA for confronting Kevin Garnett after the New York Knicks' loss to Boston on Monday.

Anthony, who was angry about Garnett's choice of words during a fourth-quarter altercation, went toward the Celtics' locker room after the game and later waited for Garnett outside Boston's team bus.

Anthony didn't believe he would be suspended because he was just looking to talk to Garnett, not have an altercation. But NBA executive vice president of operations Stu Jackson said Wednesday there were "no circumstances in which it is acceptable for a player to confront an opponent after a game."

Anthony will miss the Knicks' nationally televised game at Indiana on Thursday and lose about $176,700 of his $19.4 million salary.

1. I agree with Melo's suspension, but my respect for KG has taken a huge hit.

You talk shit, you better show up.

2. Melo confronted him during the game, after the game, and then

as he was leaving the building...serious stalking...I'm sure KG said something, but Melo is no saint himself.

And it is just basketball, after all.

4. Actually IMHO as a Denver Nuggets fan

Melo likes to try and play the head-game on others but is really thin-skinned. Once someone messes with him he can't play worth beans. Mark my words, next time Melo & KG meet up, Melo will still be thinking about this and probably have an awful game ... that was a typical pattern in Denver.

5. I think you're right...it was clear he was put out by Jeremy Lin

getting all the attention...he had to share the spotlight and that really bothered him

6. According to the NY Daily News, this was the "circumstance"

La La Anthony...the estranged wife of Knicks superstar forward Carmelo Anthony...was at the center of...an on-court verbal jab by (Kevin) Garnett...Anthony flew into a rage when Garnett reportedly said his wife "tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios."
