"I just look illegal"

During the San Francisco Giants’ astonishing post-season run, Sergio Romo’s infectious leprechaun-like personality and his fantastic performance as a closer in one pressure-packed appearance after another won him the attention of a national audience. But during Wednesday morning’s Giants’ Victory Parade in San Francisco he took his game to a whole new level. Sitting on the back of a convertible, he sported a T-shirt with the words “I just look illegal” printed in big block letters.

How cool is that? Pro athletes tend to steer away from politics. Sergio Romo stuck himself right in the middle of a caustic national frenzy, proving he can’t be intimidated by either Triple Crown sluggers or the dangers of taking a stand. He reminded us all, liberals and conservatives alike, judge not, lest ye be judged.

I was a fan before today, but now he’s my idol.

For a lot of reasons, this kind of thing being among them, Sergio is one of my favorite Giants.

He's most likely the next small man player to test positive for PEDs. Either him or Pandaval. I mean two players last season are suspended. Do they hand them out in the locker room or what? I predict we will see a huge asterisk beside the small men's WS trophy before this whole story is over.

An iconic home run champion whose legacy was tainted by steroid use, McGwire was the hitting coach of the St. Louis Cardinals the last three seasons.

by the time they are done dealing this off season, their payroll is projected to exceed $200 million. And if last year is any indication, it will consist of a bunch of surly characters making 20 mil+ each.

I will definitely protest this. I have disavowed every cheating PED user and I do not want him anywhere near the Dodgers. I don't think any steroid user should be allowed to coach and I am for far stiffer penalties for players. Should be something like a 2-year ban and 10 mil fine. The players don't seem to care anymore if they caught because they come out at the end with their millions and careers intact. They have no shame. They should have any championship rings taken away, too. I'm looking at you, Baroid.

Well, that should do a lot of good..Just think of it, new Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire, tainted by years of PED use and disgraced before Congress, wearing the Dodger blue and whispering the sweet nothings of cheating into eager Dodger ears..

It's obvious by now that the whole team is awash in PEDs. Who will be the next one suspended? Busted Poseur? Pandaval, the fattest man in baseball? Please don't say it will be Marco Scutaro....he was a decent guy in Oakland. Seems like he's been corrupted by the small men's style of Balco-ball. A .272 career hitter suddenly becomes an MVP candidate? Yeah, right!

The sad thing is the Giants didn't need to cheat their way to success. Look to the fabulous Oakland A's as a model. They built a playoff team with the second lowest payroll in baseball through patience, good scouting, excellent signings and trades, and the best coaching staff in the AL. The small men should take a lesson in class from the A's. You don't need to cheat to win!!

I'll remember that the next time a giants player gets suspended. Around May...maybe June?

I have a friend at work who states baldly that 80% of major league players are users. I said, "Surely, not that many?" He didn't seem bothered by the possibility of that. And this guy's a huge Giants fan. Then he asked me not to call him Shirley.

Until MLB hands down a lot stiffer penalties for this abuse, I'm finding myself becoming very cynical.
