I'll take "Empty Stadiums In Miami" for 600, please, Alex.

Believe it or not, this time it's the 'Canes.

The University of Miami would like to thank all 300 people who came out today to support the Hurricanes.

This is how the stadium looked when the Hurricanes came out of the tunnel for Saturday's game against Bethune-Cookman. And it didn't get much better as the game went on. Everyone out tailgating stayed in the parking lot instead of watching what was ultimately a 38-10 Miami win.

What fans missed was freshman running back Duke Johnson scoring four touchdowns in three different ways, including a 95-yard kick return, a 50-yard touchdown reception and runs of 1 and 28 yards.

Look, we know it's Bethune-Cookman, and the Hurricanes are coming off an awful loss to Kansas State, but this is just sad. So sad, it's Maryland vs. Boston College-like.

Kansas State?! Ouch.

6. Ah, the memories

Desert Swarm and Dick Tomey era

In 1992, Coach Dick Tomey's "Desert Swarm" defense was characterized by tough,
hard-nosed tactics. UA lead the nation in scoring defense and nose guard Rob Waldrop
is a consensus All-American. In 1993, the team had its first 10-win season and
beat the Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl by a score of 290. It was the bowl
game's only shutout in its then 23-year history.

7. Attendance is actually often poor or not great for the Canes in that stadium

It is outside of Miami, 20 miles from campus.

Dolphins and Canes should have never left the Orange Bowl.

11. Disagree about the OB

Place was falling apart. Hell---I'd leave in the 2nd quarter to take a piss and get back mid 3rd quarter.

Fact of the matter is--- if you win, you fill the stadium---if you don't, which both teams the last several years have not----well...you go to the beach.

Miami isn't Ohio State or Nebraska where they sell out every time....simply because there's a 1000 more things to do in South Florida than there is in Timbuktu.

12. As far as the current stadium

it was built w/ baseball in mind so the stands are built so far from the field it decreases the home field advantage. Plus it's hard to sell tickets in when what are supposed to be the best seats in the house are far from the action.

I could agree w/ the OB, but they should have designed a better stadium IMO.

10. Not sure if you or the Yahoo writer has ever been to a football game...

But crowds are usually still piling in pre-game and wrapping up their tail gate.

Attendance for that game was 39,400. Not bad for a game against a lower tier opponent.

douche
