Question - Anyone, besides me, ever quit being a fan of some team?

dmallind's question got me to wondering.

As most of you know, I was a rabid Cowboys fan from the days of Eddie LeBaron (mim wasn't even born yet). But when that Arkie son-of-a-bitch, Jerry Jones, bought them, I quit. I was also a big fan of the Texas Rangers until that other son-of-a-bitch, *, and his enabler, Tom Hicks, became the owners. But now since they are gone I like that team again.

2. The Detroit Lions....

I grew up watching Plum, Sweetan, Karras, Barney etc. as a kid and loved the Lions. After years of frustration with the ownership, I gave up on them. I don't even watch the NFL anymore.

3. Almost as bad as me.

The NFL has sure lost its luster for me. Interminable replay delays contributed too.

4. Yeah. It was really bad last year. Interminable replay delays for the

glorification of a shitty QB for the Broncos.

5. I few weeks I re-watched a tape

of the 1996 USC @ Arizona State football game and saw in the 4th quarter a USC WR was credited with a touchdown when the ball bounced off the turf then fall underneath an ASU player before the USC receiver reached over and pulled it underneath him.

It had my thanking the gods there is replay.

6. Come on!

College games go a lot faster than pro games.

I guess I'm just getting old.

8. I was born and raised in Northern Illinois, which meant I was a Cubs fan....

... I gave them sons a bitches 20 years of my life and they gave me heartache. As an adult, after the second straight sweep in the division series, I told them to go to hell. I ditched all my Cubs gear (lots!) and told all my friends and family I am done. This came as a shock to many people given the level of my fandom (including license plates). Many still believe that I am secretly a fan, but I am not. I even received a Cubs shirt for my birthday and I gave it to my pal. DONE DONE DONE

Also: When I moved to Cleveland, I had a brief dalliance with the Clowns, but I dropped them quickly after they moved to Baltimore. I am 1000% better for having done it. I love to make fun of the Clowns fans every Monday.

9. Grew up liking the New York Giants...I'm so old there

were no Pats at the time. Always sort of liked the Pats when they came into existence, but the whole fiasco with the Giants bending over for the Manning Crime Family sickened me to much to cheer for them anymore.

10. I almost gave up on the Cleveland baseball team

Racist logo and all. But since I grew up in the Cleveland area and suffered through all those horrible seasons in late 60s and 70s, I just can't. I want my investment to be rewarded.

11. No, can't imagine...It's like I was born with Yankee and Giant's blood flowing

through me. It's bigger than me, than my family, it's like a religion - no bigger than
that...it's like in my DNA
