Warners determined to get her wrong: The CW Is Developing A New Wonder Woman Series

Wonder Woman may be coming back to TV after all, but not in the way we've been used to seeing her on film. Barely a year after NBC opted against moving forward with David E. Kelley's reworking of the comic book icon, and just as the character is hooking up with the Man of Steel in the comics, Vulture hears that the CW, Warner Bros. TV, and DC Comics have found a new way to revive the legend of Diana of Themyscira. The plan this time: origin story, all the way.

Our sources say the new take on the comic book crime fighter is being written by Allan Heinberg (Grey's Anatomy, The O.C.) under the working title Amazon. Unlike past TV incarnations, it will focus on Wonder Woman as a young, budding superhero, rather than a fully formed defender of liberty. (Think Smallville, but instead of a "no tights, no flights" rule, this show might have a "no bracelets, no crown" mandate.)

Sigh. After all the flack David E. Kelly got for getting the costume wrong, the CW decides no costume.

2. That is one gorgeous looking image

Thanks for posting, but yes, the CW is sincerely trying to get her wrong.

My suggestion of using her as a secondary character to other heroes who have had more of a normal upbringing stands.

She does seem to have an uncanny resemblance to Rhona Mitra.

3. I don't get

Why people want to take action characters, strip everything that makes them who they are away and then make a soap opera out of it.

The stuff of CW is lifeless, boring crap and adding action heroes (minus the ACTION part) makes them just another boring hour of pretty people.

4. I think the Arrow is going to be alright...

And Smallville was all about a stranger in a strange land. At least that was the way I envisioned it.

6. Yeah, I'm willing to give Arrow a shot, if only because it's nice to see

the network going all-out on promotion for a B-list dude like GA.

7. After the Green Lantern and Green Arrow hook up back in the late 60's and early

seventies. GA was my favorite hero.
