New Years Eve Traditions ...

As I sit here, (getting beat) playing scramble, I wondered if anyone else has a New Years Eve Family tradition.

In the 1StrongBlackMan household, we get up early and clean the house, from top to botton. All of the dirt is collected and stored at the back door. We put a put a pot of Blackeyed peas on.., along with some trotters, greens and corn bread for dinner; but we have plenty of left-overs for New Years Day. And, we play Scramble until mid-night. And at Mid-night we sweep the trash out the back door and toast to the new year.

Your family belief is ... By cleaning the house, we get rid of all the previous year's garbage by sweeping it out the back door. the Scramble playing represents family time and intellectual pursuit. The Black eyed peas, trotters, corn bread and greens represent plenty in the coming year because there is plenty left from the previous meal.

Does anyone else have New Years Eve Tradition?

1. No. But that's a wonderful, touching tradition you have. . .
