GOP Budget Doesn't Even Say the Word "Veteran"

Do Republicans care about keeping our promise to veterans?
Looking at the recently released GOP budget, written by Rep. Paul Ryan, it's hard to see how they do. In fact, looking at the nearly 100 page document, the word "veteran" doesn't appear once. Not once.

Today is the 9th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. Last night, I spoke with someone who served with me in Iraq during my first tour. And for the first time in almost nine years, she wanted to talk to me about an incident where she drove through an IED and a soldier was killed. It was a profound moment that shows how war and sacrifice stay with us, always. For those of us who served, in many ways, yesterday is today. And today, we read that the GOP doesn't even talk about veterans in their budget.

But, without saying the word "veteran," the budget tells us a lot about what they think about veterans. The budget calls for across the board spending freezes and cuts. If enacted, the Ryan GOP budget would cut $11 billion from veterans spending, or 13 percent from what President Obama proposes in his own plan.

1. And Yet

The Repukes are still able to convince Veterans, that they are looking out for them...and some completely brain dead, zombiefied, knuckle dragging asshats vets, actually believe them!

2. I Am A Veteran

I am a veteran of the Vietnam era. I am surprised at how many vets are super RW. The GOP has never supported taking care of vets actually. In fact Bush wanted to privatize the VA and also contract out combat MASH units in the war zone. That would mean contractors would decide who to save. If it cost too much vets would be allowed to die at the MASH unit. Privatizing the VA and tricare would mean issuing vouchers for private insurance.

I quite frankly could never feel allegiance to a government run by Repukelicans.

3. When G would snap and go

on his rages, he would scream bizarre RW fabrications in my face....like Obama's million $$ secret conspiracy to produce a fake birth certificate, Obama cutting aid to vets......crazy racist and irrational shit...... I know a lot of it was whipped up resentment, as he was on 6 years after being laid off without being able to find a decent job. In his eyes, all the "mexicans" and everyone else except vets were getting the jobs and the benefits.....it was awful......and sad..... and he did (and doesn't) DESERVE to be so lied to and misinformed by the FUCKS who manipulate the information!!!!!!!

4. I know what you mean

My husband is an Army Officer, and they are filled with some scary right-wingers, and some just thinking they are suppose to be republicans. When I remind them that during the Clinton shutdown, Clinton wanted to give the military raises, and the Republicans didn't, I get a blank stare...it's all so weird. My husband did let me in on something funny...When he was in Iraq, he noticed the TV's were on FOX...he asked the young guys why...they just liked looking at the women on the network. That's what you get when you put a bunch of 19-10 year old men together...
