If you want to play Army - join the Army.
There is no reason why civilians should own automatic weapons.

BTW, do you know why NFA is a registration/high tax scheme instead of a ban? FDR's AG and other supporters feared that a ban would be struck down.

(5,417 posts)Yeah, there are a few in civilian hands, but they are very expensive, and getting more and more expensive every year.

(1,089 posts)People of "modest means" generally cannot afford three separate firearms which usually price in the five digits, not counting the tax stamp or background checks. The ammunition is another extreme expense, if you actually use it.

(15,396 posts)I know a guy of modest means that has 3 or 4 full autos, just so happens he's a dealer.
I also know two docs that have full autos...most people with full auto's are pretty reliable people emotionally and mental wise.

(10,164 posts)"Assault weapons" (a media generated, made-up term) has come to refer to semi-automatic weapons that resemble military-issue selective-fire (automatic) weapons. Does your friend actually have three fully-automatic weapons? If so, does he have them legally? The process for acquiring legal fully-automatic firearms is indeed expensive and very time-consuming.

(30,058 posts)I did not state semi-automatic or automatic. The definition is not written by myself and it has nothing to do with how much or how little you know or have forgotten about weapons. They are assault weapons three of them, l do not know if they are legal or not, I do not have one and would never purchase one. I personally do not see the need of that type of weapon, I hint but have every intention in consuming game and not blowing it to bits.

(1,089 posts)You mentioned assault weapons in a thread about full-autos, so I thought you had mixed the two up.

(236 posts)They say it's not powerful enough to reliably kill anything bigger than a deer or a deer itself. But you're a hunter right? So you probably already knew that. Blow it to bits, with a caliber they deem underpowered for said game, hilarious. But like I said, you probably already knew all this. Gotta get those EBR's banned, they so scary.
