Me! And I did so early and often!
Let's hear from the rest of the Pro 2A progs!
Voted by mail a couple of weeks ago. Almost straight Dem ticket (with the exception of a small local race where my choices were Repub or Lib).

(23,156 posts)I'm one of the anti-gun people, and it bothers me a lot that the pro-gun people all too often target all Dems as against them. The reality is, I'm anti-gun and I will be no matter how I identify myself politically. Plenty of Democrats support all sorts of gun rights. This is not something connected to political party, but an individual position, separate from political party.

(16,038 posts)Urban rethugs are usually gun controllers, rural dems are usually pro-rkba..

(18,318 posts)Heavier crime rates are usually in urban centers, yet some folks think guns are less needed there than on the farm. I've always felt a little safer in the country.

(12,072 posts)In the city you have to go to a firing range, with the associated fee. So it is easier, and cheaper, to shoot in the country. Just step out the door, load up and shoot.

(16,038 posts)collateral damage more than they fear criminals...this is the only explanation I can think of..
What GSC said below may also be a factor..I literally can and do step out my back door and shoot if I please..

(88 posts)I know many pro-gun Democrats and many anti-gun repubs. Generally, I find pro- vs. anti-gun battle lines are drawn along urban vs. rural lines. People in urban areas tend to be more anti while people in rural areas tend to be more pro. The suburbs are the swing vote on the issue.
As for me, I'm a hardcore, pro-gun, pro-choice, anti-Iraq War, pro-single-payer-healthcare, pro-labor, pro-environment, pro-drug-legalization Democrat!

(88 posts)The only animals I have shot as an adult were those which were nuisances or hazards, including a couple of rattlesnakes and some rats. There was also an opossum I shot because my dog had seriously injured it and I wanted to end its suffering.

(3,419 posts)would say this to an anti-gun poster but what a breath of fresh air thank you for posting.
No single political party can lay claim on the Bill of Rights we are all Americans. But if you are a Democrat and stand firm with your support of the Constitution of the United States you are attacked by some in your own party.
As a veteran I took and oath in 1969 that I still support and will defend to my death.
"I, _____, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

(3,291 posts)I'm rural, all the local Democrat politicans are pro 2A. We even see some of our local reps shooting as the local gun clubs.
All gun clubs are not equal either. Some are open minded and they leave politics at the curb, others are be an NRA member or you don't get in. It's interesting but the open minded clubs are better kept, organized and have better facilities.
Thanks for your open honesty on the issue.

(5,412 posts)We don't have early voting here in Alabama, so I will be voting today.
I'm voting for all Democrats except for the Probate Judge because the incumbent is not an attorney and the republican running against him is. If you are not an attorney, Probate cases have to be judged in Circuit Court which slows down probate cases and overloads the Circuit Court. I want an attorney in that position.

(22,144 posts)I voted weeks ago. Straight D ticket though there were some nonpartisan races. In CA the big deal were the initiatives. I'll be watching those closely

(2,477 posts)and I seriously doubt it will, you're on the wrong side of history here. Gun control is speeding to the garbage heap of history.

(16,064 posts)does not mean pro-gun or anti restrictive gun legislation. Contrary to the rantings of the death merchants and tier supporters, The 2nd DEMANDS regulation it doesn't prohibit it.....
funny how they always leave out the 'well regulated' part.....ignorant or dishonest, which are they?
