Oklahoma becomes 44th state to allow open carry
http://newsok.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-oklahomas-new-open-carry-gun-law/article/3724415
"Starting Thursday, gun owners with a permit can carry loaded firearms openly in public for the first time since before Oklahoma became a state. In general, Senate Bill 1733, signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin in May, amends the state’s concealed weapons laws by removing the word “concealed.” " I don't support open carry, but I'm glad to see the expansion of second amendment rights is continuing.

1. A state can restrict carry to concealed or open, but not both.
|
Of course it can recognize both.
The world will go on as before. |

6. Oh, you certainly *will* be exposed to guns in Chicago- just not very many legal ones.

And BTW, I wouldn't put too much stock in the notion that gun control is keeping you safe- your local murder rate is going back up:
http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=8864931 Chicago murders tie 2011 -- with 2 months to go
Paul Meincke October 29, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- On Monday morning, the city of Chicago recorded the 435th murder of 2012. Most of murders are gang-related, police say, and they believe the strategies the city has in place are working and will lead to a decline. For 25 years, Fitz Bariffe drove a bus for the CTA. His daughters would occasionally ride along with dad on the Number 36 Broadway bus. They called themselves CTA babies. "His attitude was the typical Jamaican - no problem. Nothing was ever a problem. We rarely saw him upset. If someone was in trouble, he would take the shirt off his back and give it to them," Suzette Bariffe, daughter, said. Late Sunday evening, a gunman shot and killed Bariffe in his home on South LaSalle near 95th. Police have not released a motive in his death, which goes on record as the 435th murder of 2012 in Chicago. While it's the same as the total number of murders in all of 2011, that number is of no consequence to children who have lost a father... |

10. Come out to Tucson.
|
Lots of guns, much lower murder rate.
The weather is excellent right now. I could take you to the range, then we could do lunch on Mount Lemmon. |

You can't be comfortable in a place where honest citizens may be armed, but when criminals have the run of the joint, you're happy as a clam.

16. That's right, you stay safe in "gun free" Englewood, Chatham and Pilsen. "Only" 6 murders last week!
|
Please tell me you are being sarcastic about gun free Chicago.
We have already topped the murder rate for last year and we still have two months of holiday celebrations to go. But you're in good company, Rahm and his meat puppet Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy both say the problem is "guns", not the gangs or the joblessness. Just like that idiot Daley. But if you need a break try "gun free" East St. Louis. I hear it's lovely this time of year. |

I saw a man in a restaurant yesterday with a handgun stuffed in his pocket, for everyone to see. I didn't feel safe, to say the least. All it would take is an angry impulse..

18. You are safer around people who lawfully carry firearms than otherwise.
|
People with CCW permits are less likely to be involved in crime - any kind of crime - than other random people you will encounter in public.
The idea that law-abiding people "just snap" and kill people is a myth. Most people who commit homicide have extensive prior criminal histories. 30%-40% of them have such serious criminal histories they can't even legally own firearms. Do you similarly feel unsafe around police officers? All it would take is an angry impulse... |
