From gun porn to food porn

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by krispos42 (a host of the Gun Control & RKBA group).

Once upon a time, Discovery presented itself (disingenuously) as a respectable home for legitimate TV science, but it's long since stopped caring (or pretending). Time to rename the channel "Blowing Sh*t Up!" and be done with it.

On Monday night's Mythbusters (where sh*t is blown up with gusto) the gang repeatedly fired bullets made of human teeth into a pig carcass. "Yuk", I thought. "Awesome!!" is what I was encouraged to think. This pig desecration was, however, but a warm-up for American Guns.

American Guns is a slice of "reality" hokum centred around the gun-trading Wyatt family. They sell guns. They customise guns. They fire guns, a lot, in super-slow motion. Paige (the daughter) shoots stuff while wearing skimpy hot-pants (like an extremely dangerous Daisy Duke). It's basically "Right to Bear Arms" porn for NRA members.

2. Wow! That blowed up real good!

Gun porn
I always wondered how many gunners take their guns to bed when they have sex.
You never know when a bad guy might show up.
Then a big hog leg makes up for smaller tools.

8. It has guns ...

... and he gets that "funny feeling" when he watches it. Maybe that's his porn. I'm not here to judge him.

3. Its getting bad when you have to Google dump from a whiney tosser

Seriously, I don't have TV at home. Waste of time, but the high numbered cable channels do what gets them eyeballs, whether its Honey Boo Boo or Mythbusters.

Surely you can do better that Google dumping some off shore nonsense

6. I have never seen either show and don't have a cable bill.

I am always amused by folks who complain about cable content after watching it. Then send the cable company a chunk of their income every month.

10. I agree it's nice to see more of the shooting shows on TV.

I don't care much for American Guns, but compared to most other "reality" shows it's pretty good.

14. Locking

Complaints about TV programming belong in Entertainment or the Lounge. The SoP here does not cover recreational shooting, or shows about them.
