What qualified this O.P. to be hidden?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by krispos42 (a host of the Gun Control & RKBA group).

Perhaps the alerter would be good enough to elaborate for us?

1. I don't understand why that would be hidden

2. looks like flame bait to me...

...although I hasten to add that I was not on the jury so I'm just speculating.

14. How is this flame bait (assuming you reference the OP)? Most folks...

do not know that virtually all weapons used for Fudd, self-defense, and paper purposes were once "battlefield" weapons; in most cases they were retired to civilian use after a technology superseded the then-latest weapon. This ignorance underwrites the continued confusion people have between "assault rifle" and "assault weapon," the confusion between "automatic" and "semi-automatic," etc. Hence, the "scary gun"-as-social policy which is the approach to prohibitionists.

This should have engendered a discussion among many DUers who are not strongly on the pro-2A side or on the side of the prohibitionists.

Instead, we get censorship.

4. Because...

...5 jury members find pictures of firearms either disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate or they believe that the pictures violate a copyright.

7. Search me...

I am new around here, but I do not see anything that would cause me to want to hide it. Quite the opposite. I don't know the first thing about guns. I would be interested in seeing pictures while talking about what kinds of guns should be restricted and why. I think it is educational.

10. There are some anti-gun folks here who look for ANYWAY to suppress this group...

They are hard-line prohibitionists. And their next goal is to prevent the posting of images of guns, most especially if a straight-forward question is posed about them.

Tellingly, some of these folks consider guns in the same category as "porn." So, they see no difference between a technical picture of a firearm and some 8 mm film of Harry Reams being hummed.

The censored OP was about as mild and appropriate a means to address one of the central issues of the gun-control/prohibitionist outlook (and well within the bounds of this group): Proper identification of a battlefield weapon, and which of said arms would be included in any contemplated legislation.

Clearly, the jury system is being worked. See Slackmaster below.

If he neglected a discharge he wouldn't get paid, hence the money shot.

9. It's called Jury Lottery

Keep alerting on posts that are OK, and sooner or later you'll get a jury that's dumb enough to hide one.

17. Its the newest video game in town. All The Kids are playing it. They purposely do NOT post

in this group. They take turns alerting and taking chances that Four Other DUers will agree. Chances are One or More of Them will be called to Jury Duty since they NEVER post in the threads.

23. Locking

This properly belongs in Meta-Discussion, although I would imagine that since we're in the "election unity" phase of the season, it was seen as unnecessarily critical.
