A security guard at a strip mall casino shot a would-be armed robber early Tuesday morning, Melbourne police said.
According to police, three men tried to rob Allied Veterans of the World Arcade at 3299 Babcock St. The armed security guard, whose name has not been released, confronted them and shot one of the men.
A lot of patrons though are saying if it wasn't for the security guard, they don't know what the three gunmen would have done.
"He handled it real good. He did a real good job. With odds like that three against one he did a real good job," said one patron who was not identified.
One vs Three. These are the kind of results you get when you train properly and have the will to act. The firearm is but a tool, the mind is the real weapon. This security guard was on top of his game.
The security guard is just another law abiding citizen who took personal responsibility for his own safety and the safety of his customers.
Look how fast he reacted. This is why practice makes perfect. You will perform under stress the same way that you practice. Let this be a reminder to those who carry a firearm for personal protection not to get complacent and to practice, practice, practice.
