Chicago: Teen dies days after cops say he was shot during home invasion ...
Once in a while a burglar is shot in Chicago. This time he was shot in the back of the head by his own dumbass gang who will now all be charged with Felony Murder in addition to the B&E charges.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume the group aren't NRA members and never had any of that gun safety training that was being offered. <snip> A 16-year-old boy died today, four days after he was shot during a home invasion authorities say he was involved in. Douglas Bufford, 16, of the 7200 block of South East End Avenue, was declared dead at John H. Stroeger Hospital at 1:55 p.m. today, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Police said between four or five males forced their way into the home and announced a robbery, police said. One of the group accidentally shot a fellow attacker, 16, in the back of the head, police said. The homeowner wasn't injured, according to authorities. <snip> http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-teen-dies-after-being-shot-during-home-invasion-20120729,0,7497992.story

1. Smells like BS.
|
Everyone knows that Chicago's gun laws are super effective. The only folks that have or want guns in Chicago are racist right wingers. Probably white Christians too....
Seriously though: Meh. Run with criminals armed with guns and no concern for human life, don't be shocked when you lose yours. |

2. I read the 2nd city cop blog on the incident
|
It seems the cops arrived, found the guy shot and at first assumed the homeowner had shot him in self defense.
After a while they realized the homeowner was telling them the truth, when he said he didn't have a gun in the house. At first they thought he was trying to avoid the paperwork and the threat of prosecution. Then they caught the other guys involved and got a ballistics match to the gun one of them had. I guess that just proves the controllers are right. You don't need a gun to defend yourself or your home, all you need are a bunch of really stupid and clumsy crooks that skipped the NRA gun safety lessons. |

3. Unfuckinbelievable.

Look for reasons to harass the owner, not worry about finding the shitheads who busted in.
I hope they all get brought up on murder 2. |

What part of the article addresses any action by the home owner?

The home owner had no guns and was not harmed. Damn good outcome in my opinion.

10. Yes, good outcome. But

your claim that the home owner successfully defended himself without a gun is not supported by the currently known facts.

11. Yes it is. By standing his ground without a gun he prevailed.
|
If he had charged out with an assault rifle like cowboys here think they would do, no telling who would have been hurt/killed. I'll take actual outcome and commend home owner for bravery.

There is no mention of any actions taken by the home owner. You seem to be using your imagination to fill in the gaps in the story.

13. Look, homeowner took action before and during invasion. Maybe not action gun culture would take,
|
but action none-the-less. What would you and your guns have done differently that would have guaranteed this excellent outcome? Guess you would have shot up the place.
Headline should have been, "unarmed homeowner walks away from home invasion without a scratch, to NRA's chagrin." |

|
You claim "homeowner took action before and during invasion".
What info in the article are you basing this claim on? According to the lack of info in the article, it is also possible that the home owner just sat on the couch and watched the bumbling fools botch the burglary and run out the door. |

27. Like others, I think the common view of guns among gun culture is bad for country.
|
I think those in gun business are worse than banksters and pimps.
Believe our politicians are owned by right wing NRA in ways not even directly related to guns. I believe "guns" are getting a little weird right now and it's time to do something. I also believe the majority of gun abusers are right wingers who need to be "well regulated" with respect to guns. Finally I believe almost no rationale for toting and owning too many guns, and guns manufactured and marketered to appeal to gun culture's baser instincts. |

28. Well, at least you've gotten peripherally specific. Would you be willing to answer a few questions?
|
Such as,
1. How many is "too many"? 2. What is the "gun culture"? 3. What are the "baser instincts" you referred to? 4. What are the non-gun-related ways in which our politicians are "owned" by NRA? 5. Are all gun owners also gun 'abusers' in your opinion?...and if not, what differentiates them? 6. Would you shut down 'gun business' if you had the power to do so? I think these questions are pretty succinct and reasonable, if you care to address them. |

I can tell from the questions you ask, it's going to take a lot of work to educate you on the negative impacts of guns on society and individuals. Don't really have time now to try to answer any question from a flat earther, birther, or worse right now.
Give me the question you'd like addressed first, and I'll do my best. |

35. But, what you don't understand is a semi-auto is just about as lethal.
|
It's a minor difference when innocent people are getting shot and dubious people are arming up with them.
It's like you guys arguing over mags vs clips. They both feed bullets when you are shooting people, or practicing to do so. Definition doesn't matter until you are perhaps writing a law to keep the gun culture from pushing the spirit of the law. |
