The stats depicted are not an indication of how many people own firearms. A million firearms might be purchased by 1,000 people each buying 1,000 guns. Or a million people might buy one gun apiece.

Must be tough trying to keep up with that "guy" that just keeps buying thousands of more guns every month.

We did some stuff for them a couple of years ago, so maybe...

We might even get blessed by the ATF to make firearm components or whatever. We might as well; if our stuff can be out there crawling around Mars or on the ISS there's no reason we can't make quality gun parts.

To buy a gun or ammunition in Illinois (or for anyone from Illinois to buy a gun in Indiana for that matter) you must first have a Firearm Owners ID (FOID) card.

In the last 2 years the Illinois State Police now say there have been 1.7 million new FOID Cards issued, not renewals, since the card is good for 10 years.

But I'm sure Illinois is just an anomaly for new gun owners.

It's just not the angle of inclination gun control advocates were hoping to achieve.

The 'S.S. Gun Control' has tipped over, while Brady, VPC, Bloomberg, LCPGV, CSGV and other like orgs send tugboats to try and right it.

If I have to get a state-issued permit just to buy ammo, then I might as well get the nice fancy one that lets me do everything.

They have four kinds now...

Ammo
Long gun, ammo
Handgun, long gun, ammo
Concealed handgun, long gun, ammo.

WTF?

However I have heard that most people get the Permit to Carry since the costs and requirements are the same as the permit to purchase a handgun.

There is no requirement in CT to carry it concealed, although most people do.

As to the laws, this is what happens when people who know nothing about firearms write laws

I was there this morning. Weekday mornings used to be fairly quiet -- now there are more employees behind the counter, and the place is hustling.

Meanwhile, I work directly across the street from the biggest indoor range in the county......which opened a couple of years ago. Always screaming on weekends, of course, but steady business during working hours which picks up dramatically after the dinner hour on weekdays.

You betcha --- the increase in gun sales is a reflection of current gun owners simply buying more.

... must be the same 5 guys that the gun control people claim are buying all the new guns and ammo are using it up faster and they each want their own 20 lane range to shoot.

We have 5 new ranges from basic to the "Guntry Club" membership types opening on the South Suburbs of Chicago alone. Several more are being built in the North suburbs. Big $$$ investment for a "shrinking" market segment.

And all but 1 are just across the border from Cook County, who will miss out on a lot of tax revenue they desperately need.

At least that's what passes for the "logic" our control minded friends use.

But for the life of me, I can't recall anyone passing a gun range ever being shot by a stray round?

We went through it on DU when Illinois was considering passing their own AWB and companies like Les Baer and a few others, near the Quad Cities moved across the river to Iowa. They moved and took their tax revenue, a few hundred jobs, from skilled Union Machinist to floor sweepers and all the lunch places, gas stations local businesses they helped support.

The response here, including one of the hosts of the other imaginary gun group, was; "Good Riddance, Illinois doesn't want those kind of jobs anyway."

There goes that theory. I was talking to a wholesaler rep the other day, and based on a discussion with top brass within PA's State Police (PSP), 65% of new purchases in PA are first time buyers. PSP is the state POC for NICS.

So we've seen data from IL, CT, MA, and PA anecdotally and new buyers are through the roof. Maryland's HQL (FOID) also had the highest rate of growth in 2015 in the program's two year history. Obviously, all the gun nuts are just getting around to making their first purchase.

It feels good, bro.
