Gun Rights Group Sues D.C. Again

Gun Rights Group Sues D.C. Again

Claims city not complying with judge’s order to allow gun carry permits

BY: Stephen Gutowski
February 9, 2015 5:00 pm

A gun rights group filed suit last week against Washington, D.C., over the restrictive nature of the district’s gun carry permit application process.

The group responsible for the suit, the Second Amendment Foundation, was a plaintiff in the case which saw the district’s ban on gun carry declared unconstitutional. It claims that the carry law the city passed in response to the last court ruling is also unconstitutional.

“The city’s requirements to obtain a carry permit are so restrictive in nature as to be prohibitive to virtually all applicants,” he said in a press release. “It’s rather like a ‘Catch 22,’ in which you can apply all day long, but no reason is sufficiently good enough for Chief Lanier to issue a permit.”

The filing includes three individual plaintiffs in addition to the Second Amendment foundation. “They’re all people who’ve been issued permits in other states but denied in D.C.,” Gottlieb said. He added that each of the plaintiffs had passed criminal background checks.

The case has drawn the same judge as the foundation’s first challenge.

That last sentence is not a good sign for the gun control extremist faction.

That is the typical end result of ignoring judge's orders.. It's taking Chicago a "few" checks to learn "not to touch a hot stove". But sooner or later, they will run out of the taxpayer's money. DC would be wise to learn from Chicago's very expensive mistakes... But since gun control IS faith based, and the dogma must be followed.. DC, get the ink pens ready, to join Chicago...

Chicago could actually do something tangible to reduce gun deaths (and deaths by other means).

The Chicago total ... so far ... is over $3.2 million for SAF and ISRA legal fees for McDonald and Ezell alone.

And they are still screwing around on allowing gun stores and shooting ranges in the city and running up more big legal bills.

BTW, none of that includes the fees the city is paying to their own "outside consulting attorneys".

Even though Chicago has a huge legal department, for actual trial work they don't feel they have anyone with the competency to handle things in a courtroom, so they hire major firms like Sidley Austin and others at $400+ an hour.

That's a part of the tax bill no one sees.

Now, I wonder how many dummies will ignore what the check actually says and rant about the "Evil NRA gouging taxpayers"?

That's why McDonald's was sued for Millions because of hot coffee.
It was the 3rd time McDs was sued & told to not have coffee so hot.

because the half wits in office can't grasp the concept that they lost in court and have to obey the judge's ruling.

I wonder where the money came from to pay the lawyers and if it impacted funds that would have been used to for children, senior citizens or the homeless.
