Taunting, attempts at intimidating, name-calling, and other divisive games can not be associating serious discussion of the Second Amendment.
It's not even consistent with being a good progressive citizen.
Welcome to DU.
I think that the idea that "a good guy with a gun will negate a bad guy with a gun" is a foolish and flawed proposition. When I created this, I was hoping it would be a starting point for a conversation.
Maybe my attempt at satire wasn't that good. I'm okay with that. But, in my opinion, satire is a often a very important part of any serious discussion. Also, I don't need to be lectured on what it means to be a good progressive citizen.
Have a good day.

(1,401 posts)Fairly regularly someone comes along with the bright idea of picking an extreme example and acting as if it is representative of gun owners in general. Guilt by association is a flawed argument and very tired.

(12,194 posts)Which is why when theres a bad person with a gun, and its reported, the default response is to send people...with guns...to stop him.

(18,479 posts)Satire: probably not a bad choice for a theme but, in this case, destined to be unpopular with the pro-RKBA side.
I just wanted to point out what beevul said and add something of my own.
Chances are excellent that everywhere in the world a "bad guy" with a gun will get the response of law enforcement with guns, at least eventually. Sometimes, an armed civilian is first on the scene. IMHO, the earlier someone arrives on the scene the better his perspective of the events that have occurred. Statistics show that the police shoot the wrong person much more often than civilians do. In spite of this, people are often inclined to trust the police and distrust armed civilians. I don't think generally trusting police is wrong but trusting an armed civilian less isn't really logical.
