SYG debate at UC Berkley

My observations: I was a little surprised how few people knew that California is a SYG state; Sunny Hostin's intellect is on par with Sara Palin's and she lost the bet and became the subject of a Downfall parody; Hostin's debate partner didn't seem prepared either.

The whole thing is about 97 minutes.

gun control laws that no way is SYG a law there.
If I remember right, CA has had SYG since the 1800's.

We've had what amounts to SYG (and a very permissive castle doctrine) here for many, many years. Astonishingly, we're not awash in blood...

There is no reason that anyone has to back down or run from bullies or thieves. Most SYG laws are actually good law designed to give some level of legal protection to honest citizens. The problem arises when the law is used (misused?) by people who were the aggressors. If the justice system is working properly, and the court officials are doing their job, this should not be a problem. Sadly, sometimes the safe guards don't work.

1) SYG laws incentivize normally decent people into becoming reckless killers

2) a disarmed populace WON'T incentivize those already disposed to criminal behavior from preying upon that populace.
