Bloomberg & Mayors Against Illegal Guns Only Want Gun Confiscation

Every time I see Joe Nocera's "The Gun Report" posted, I'm going to try to find something of interest to post.

Today's selection below:

Bloomberg & Mayors Against Illegal Guns Only Want Gun Confiscation

(snippet)

Below is an inside look into Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Former member, Mayor John Tkazyik released this statement after leaving the organization recently. It gives you a truly disturbing inside look at the views and agenda being pushed by the anti-gun cronies involved with MAIG:

“I’m no longer a member of MAIG. Why? …MAIG became a vehicle for Bloomberg to promote his personal gun-control agenda – violating the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and taking resources away from initiatives that could actually work to protect our neighborhoods and save precious lives. Gun control will actually make a bad situation worse.

MAIG approached me with the promise that they’d assist me in developing effective approaches to clear our streets of criminals, get guns out of the hands of convicted felons, crack down on the drug trade and rid our streets of gangs that were terrorizing a city.

It did not take long to realize that MAIG’s agenda was much more than ridding felons of illegal guns; that under the guise of helping mayors facing a crime and drug epidemic, MAIG intended to promote confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens.

3. Dunn is going to be convicted

for either first or second degree murder. Based on the trial evidence and what I caught of the trial, as he should. He does not meet all of the five elements of self defense:
Innocence
Imminence
Proportionality
Avoidance
Reasonableness

Zimmerman is a totally different case that has nothing to do with Dunn.

5. Between the imprisonments and the last round of elections I heard he lost over 16% of his membership

Last two years he had a bunch of his members go up the river for everything from fraud and child molestation. At last count I think it was something like 19 of them?

MAIG using the Boston Bomber in an ad as another example of "a young man who was the victim of gun violence" last Fall really made them look dumb as a stump and desperate.

Now a whole bunch of the newly elected mayors have dropped out too, since they found out it's Bloomies private club, has nothing to do with illegal guns, just all guns, and they don't get a say on any of it.

But as long as he writes all the checks and the so called "Gun Control Supporters" don't have to ever actually reach for their wallets, it's all OK I guess

Just found this from DU2, as of November 2012

So, what's the rate for conviction in Bloomberg's group? 1384 per 100,000.

What's the rate for conviction for Texas CHL holders? 25 per 100,000 (2009*).

Bloomberg's group is 55x more likely to be convicted of a crime than TX CHL holders.

6. MAIGite Ray Nagin just got convicted of bribery

DL this before MAIG scrubs it:

CLOSE THE TERROR GAP

Over 500 mayors who are members of Mayors Against Illegal Guns support changes in Federal law and policy to prevent terrorists from obtaining guns.

The federal government should take these urgently needed steps:

CLOSE THE TERROR GAP in the background check system. In
2007, the Bush Administration asked Congress to give the FBI
the power to block gun and explosives sales to terror suspects.
And just last week, Attorney General Eric Holder endorsed
this legislation on behalf of the Obama Administration.
Unfortunately, Congress has failed to act. According to the
Government Accountability Office, over the past five years
people on the terrorist watch list bought guns or explosives
more than 850 times...

Today, more than 500 mayors are asking you to stand with us to protect the men and
women who serve our country and prevent future mass shootings by terrorists.
Sincerely,
Mayors Against Illegal Guns

(and just look who's one of the signatories!)

Ray Nagin, New Orleans, LA

Serves him right, the statist panderer...

8. You mean "Only my police will have guns in my city" Nagin? That Nagin?

Well, the good news is, as a convicted felon Nagin won't ever be able to own a gun ... legally anyway.

I know the list of convicted mayors is a lot longer, but I can't find an update. I'll keep looking so we have it on hand for the next "Bloomberg Booster" that shows up.

7. That's pretty well known...If I were a 1%er I wouldn't want peons to have

firearms either. Sad part is their march for more victims lures in loads of the oblivious 2A regressives...

Folks that want to surrender my right to protect myself and that of my family for me.

People that assume that without guns there would be no crime, the guns make em do it crowd.

Then there are the folks that will relent on allowing me to protect myself in my home but assume my life isn't worth protecting in public...

Always remember to the bloomy types guns kill people.

9. You mention a fact that many very liberal and progressive posters here do not comprehend. ...

Eventually the 1% will push for gun confiscation as they will realize that their greed threatens their existence. You can oppress people only so long before they rise up and resist. A resistance movement is a greater threat if it is armed.

Sometimes it amazes me that so many progressive liberals are so willing to do away with the Second Amendment. They often seem to dislike the wealth and power that the 1% have been able to accumulate in recent years and the fact that the middle class is in danger of becoming extinct. Many realize that the people we elect to office often fail to represent our wishes but instead bow to the wishes of the large international corporations largely run by the 1%.

Obviously the best way to change the way our nation is headed is through the voting booth and non violent protests. I don't advocate any form of a violent uprising at this time or in the near future. Still there is always the possibility that far in the future it might prove necessary. If that were to happen it is questionable if such a rebellion could succeed against the technology and force that our government will posses but it will definitely have little chance if the civilians in our nation are disarmed.
