unexpected challenge to California's AWB

Unexpected because I never pictured the law challenge on 1A grounds.

YUBA CITY, CA - Gursant Singh Khalsa, a follower of the Sikh faith for 35 years, filed a federal lawsuit against the State of California.

The suit claims the state is stopping him from fully practicing his religion by not allowing him to own and use of assault rifles and high capacity magazines.

"Decrees from the Tenth Sikh Guru state in the most vigorous and clear words that, 'a Sikh's conception of God is the sword of God is the sword of dharma,'" Khalsa said.

He said some practicing Sikhs already carry what he calls "the sword of dharma" for protection. Khalsa said if assault weapons were legalized in the state, the loss of life in mass shootings, like the one in Wisconsin, could be minimized.

Hmmmm! I know a guy named Dharma. I'll have to ask him about that!

That's going to go over like a fart in a phone box in court.

I get where he's coming from - with the murders in WI and hate crimes in general it's reasonable for Sikhs to feel concerned or threatened. But I doubt he has much of a chance with this one (and he's probably "pro se" because every lawyer of his acquaintance told him so)...

This sounds kinda weak.
I love ALL of the rights enumerated in the bill of rights, but this does seem like a ummm...... stretch... to say the least.
