interesting things happening in NY.Last edited Fri Feb 15, 2013, 12:34 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2)
it is getting harder for police to buy guns too.
the following companies are not selling to police as well as individuals. Buxton, ME --(Ammoland.com)- Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York. As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies. For “civilian” customers residing in New York: At your choice, we will: Complete your order and ship to a dealer of your choice outside of NY. Refund your payment in full. Hold your items here for up to 6 months, at no charge – if you are in the process of leaving NY and taking residence in another state. For LE/Govt customers in New York: Your orders have been cancelled. edit: the only link I could find that worked was nat. review online. not sure if it is ok to use that link. LaRue tactical as well as Olympic Arms, Inc put out the same policy earlier via facebook.

4. I googled "Olympic Arms", and there was an article about this - trying to get
|
other vendors to join in. (as the OP mentioned)
http://www.examiner.com/article/olympic-arms-cuts-off-business-to-new-york-over-gun-restrictions "Olympic Arms – the Washington-based manufacturer of AR-15 type rifles and semiautomatic pistols – announced Tuesday that because of legislation passed recently in the state of New York, the company “will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York.” Olympic joins other companies that have recently cut off business to various state agencies due to the adoption of firearms regulations..." I think it is illegal to sell to such newly banned stuff to NY LE anyway, since they forgot those exemptions in the new laws...haven't heard that's been fixed yet. |

5. When Glock does that it will mean something.
|
I would be more interested in a lawsuit being filed for the wait times for permits waits which are up to 18-24 months in some locations.

6. Troopers don't carry Olympic Arms...
|
they carry Glock 37s, as do many local PD's and sheriff's offices. Why? Logistics You need a new magazine, you can get one from your buddy.
For long guns, it's usually Remington or Mossberg shotguns and Smith and Wesson or Bushmaster ARs. Call me when a big company tells NY to F.O.D., not something ran out of a former Mercury dealer garage. |

8. Not just NY
|
Here is a partial list of companies that have stated they will not sell to anything to law enforcement that can not be sold to the private citizen:
CMMG- Maker of AR-15's, parts and accessories York Arms- Maker of AR-15's, parts, accessories and silencers Olympic Arms-Maker of AR-15's, parts and accessories LaRue Tactical-Maker of AR-15's, parts and accessories Midway USA- One of the largest online seller of everything gun related EXCEPT guns Cheaper then Dirt- Sells guns and gun related items Expect the list to grow, most of the major gun companies rely on sales to private citizens to remain open. It is likely that gun companies will face increasing pressure from the public to limit sales of guns and accessories to law enforcement to match what they are allowed to sell to private citizens. The last time this happened was when S&W made an agreement with the Clinton Administration. The resulting boycott cost them 40% in sales, forced the closing of 2 manufacturing plants and resulted in the sale of S&W to a small company for $15 million dollars and assuming $30 million dollars in existing debt. The seller had bought S&W for $112 million. |
