The President's 23 executive orders

The President's 23 executive orders reads like a laundry list of pretty much every common sense proposal the pro-RTKBA posters here have espoused, with the possible exception of a privacy issue here or there to be worked out.

That must be exploding a lot of hot anti-gunner heads who were hoping beyond hope that he'd exceed his authority by announcing unilateral bans, restrictions and registration requirements. Thank God there are adults in charge at the highest level of government.

1. They are executive actions, not executive orders.

It is a Presidential to-do list. And it is a good list.

3. sans further adieu, voila:

I emboldened what I consider stronger approaches.

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

And these are the legislative ideas -- i.e., the ones the president wants to push through Congress, starting with the more pliable Senate.
Require criminal background checks for all gun sales. (a.k.a. closing the "gun show loophole.")
Reinstate and strengthen the assault weapons ban.
Restore the 10-round limit on ammunition magazines.
Protect police by finishing the job of getting rid of armor-piercing bullets.
Give law enforcement additional tools to prevent and prosecute gun crime.

End the freeze on gun violence research.
Make our schools safer with more school resource officers and school counselors, safer climates, and better emergency response plans.
Help ensure that young people get the mental health treatment they need.
Ensure health insurance plans cover mental health benefits

4. Yes some of these

Are what we all wanted or expected. Some are just fluff but the gun grabbers are still out and active spreading the hate they have perfected in lock step with some new things added in. Such as they can now tell you to go FUCK yourself and not be locked. I know because it was used against me today and NO PROBLEM says the jury.
I still stand behind and support my President, My Country and the 2A. So those who don't agree with that can Go Fuck Yourselves.

8. I find it funny

that more than a couple "NRA talking points" are on this list that is being celebrated by the pro-control side.

Interestingly the majority RKBAers here have promoted these "talking points" for a while and have no serious objections to the list.

On other pro-gun sites, there is not jubilation, but more like the fox in the fable with the boy. They are cautious but not running away. The consensus is "we can live with this"

10. Everything

Everything pro-2A is a fucking "NRA talking point" to some grab nuts isn't it?

"NRA talking point" is what you say when you basically have no cogent argument. It's a cheap and dishonest way to try to shut the discussion down before it starts via painting someone as some undesirable "other" not worthy of engaging.

Whatever, dude. Take that BS back to GD because it doesn't go over so well here.

I've got a news flash for you, too. There are more versions of gun control than your authoritarian let's-rip-up-the-Constitution method, and they are promoted by Democrats just as good as you.

9. Most of us have proposed pretty much the same thing.

Basically the 23 points are mostly some version of enforcing the laws we already have.

11. GUNS GONE, GUNS GONE, WAYNES WORLD

clames: There are times when the words "I told you so..."...

I'm pretty sure you're pro gun, so perhaps you include wayno laconman, when he said this last year or so:

delivering one of the liveliest and best-received speeches at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said the president’s low-key approach to gun rights during his first term was “a “conspiracy to ensure re-election by lulling gun owners to sleep.”
We see the president’s strategy crystal clear: Get re-elected and, with no more elections to worry about, get busy dismantling and destroying our firearms’ freedom, erase the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights and excise it from the U.S. Constitution.”

So of course, for the gun rights crowd, wayno appears an 'I Told Ya So' prophet, the one who warned of the coming disaster, the govt tyrrany looming from the obama white house.

So wayno is perceived by gunnuts as some gunmoses bringing down the ten commandamendments from the gunmount, focussing on 'thou shalt not infringe guns' -- rather than a pied piper further leading normal people astray off the pier of sanity.
See, wayno has always said that, always warned of that, no matter who has been the president or candidate for president. More like wayno's the boy who cries wolf & then a wolf puppy appears after 30 years & wayno goes 'I TOLD YA SO'.
Obama enacts some guncontrol which even if all he wanted were enabled, would ban maybe 1% of national gunstock leaving 98%+ to satiate the holy 2ndA, but doesnt matter to gunmoses, obama's still 'dismantling the 2ndA'. What he's really dismantling is a bigger income base for the nra after assault rifle & magazine sales cuts are deducted from next years profits.

GUNS GONE, GUNS GONE, GUNS GONE, WAYNES WORLD
