Do we really need this group in DU3?This discussion thread was locked by fightthegoodfightnow (a host of the LGBT Civil Rights and Activism group).

1. It seems like a duplicate to me of LGBT. I used to get confused why there
|
were two, and eventually ended up just going to LGBT.

3. I agree.

I think the other forum will serve us well under DU3.

4. I know I would prefer not to have to look in two places to get all the LGBT news that I like to find

here.

5. I agree with you on this.

I know a number of people put in a lot of effort to see this group get established, but a short while after it was, it went largely unused. Which is a shame, I believe.
Also, IIRC, one of the reasons for having this group was that it would be easier to keep out those who are seemingly against the group's mission. With the new features presented with DU3, I think we have stronger tools to do this within the general GLBT group. I think it makes sense to just have one group specifically dedicated to the GLBT community and our issues. Given the choice, I would vote to remove this one and keep the other one active. YMMV. |

7. Yes, this group is unecessary

I'd prefer to get Du's opinion on GLBT news/"activism" in a the more general LGBT category simply because there will be more views in a single category. |

8. Being out and proud or a supporter of LGBT rights is a political statement
|
So I don't think two forums are necessary.
Plus, I would rather see threads about LGBT activism in the Soapbox forum so the issue isn't relegated to a topic forum. |

10. Probably not necessary at this point.
|
Maybe as DU3 grows, and gets more active, but it would be better to keep everything under one roof for now.
