Oy...took the kids to the vet

They got a clean bill of health, but they also needed to get their blood work. Per usual avian vets are far more expensive, but hey Tuky lived to the ripe old age of 23, cockatiels usually reach 15.

Cookie, our lovely Nanday is 21...getting up in years. Part of it is preventive care. Oh and they got wings clipped.

The upside, I don't have to.

1. yeah, waiting on the bonus.

got 2 parrots who need routine, plus toe nails- lory toenails are awful. plus 2 old dogs who will need the senior panel, plus 2 pups looking at 1 year checks and shots.
i love my vet. he has 3 good kids. i don't mind tooooooo much paying their college tuition.

3. Ain't that the truth?

Since we play a lot with them, they behaved very well.

5. You should be able to clip the nail yourself.

If your parrots are easy for you to handle, it is easy to do. I had a macaw who I taught to hold her foot out for me, so once we got to that point, it was great. Before that, it was one or two nails at a time, just used nail clipper. And I always had Clotisol on hand to stop bleeding if I clip too short, but only used it once.

6. yeah, if i had the time.

they are sweet birds who could probably be taught to sit still. but they are really a 2 man job and that gets wobbly.

They went when we needed to fly to Mexico for my day's funeral.
