Update on one of the old girls

Carmella. Sunday night she started having pain. She would cry out at random times.
Took her to the vet and discoverd she has ankylosing spondylitis. She gave her a steroid shot, a round of pill steroids to take & pain pills. Her appetite has improved and she's laying beside me with a heating pad on her neck.
The vet didn't didn't hazard a guess to her age, only that she is a very old girl, 10+ years.
I suppose we'll just see what happens from here.
Thanks for the support.

5. Similar to my old spaniel. Good thing they found it and can treat it.

Good luck to you both!

9. Yes.

I was worried. It's good to know what the problem is. 💗

6. Poor Carmella!

I have arthritis, can certainly sympathize with her in her pain! Bless you for getting her the meds she needs.

10. I do too.

No wonder she wasn't hungrey.
The vet gave me some good suggestions too, such as raising her bowl level and using a harness to walk her instead of a leash. 💓

7. Glad you got a diagnosis.

Steroids can do amazing things! Now that she's not in pain, I'm sure her appetite will come back. Sending you good vibes!

13. Oh no, didn't you just adopt them?

Already problems. I have never heard of the diagnosis before. So sorry. But at least it sounds like things are being treated and things are getting better. Hope that the improvement continues.

14. We did.

But we knew they were elderly and could have issues that come with that. It's a fancy way of saying spinal degeneration. I have the same issue at 58.
