Update on the evil whip worms
So, Yoshi had his second three-day round of the medicine again that the vet wanted to do when they discovered the wormy eggs in his doodie sample a month ago just to make sure they're all gone. We finished the meds a few days ago, but I'm still pretty sick with this terrible flu, so it might be a few more days before I can bring in another sample for them to test to make sure they're gone. I don't think he needs to go in himself, but if I'm feeling ok I might take him in to get weighed to see if he's lost that few pounds the vet thought he should take off (though I don't think he has because I'm convinced the neighbors are still cheating and giving him treats). He's also gotten very little exercise the past couple of weeks since I've been sick... it's only been just the last few days that I've been able to take him out on the leash at all, and I still crawl along like an old lady and can only make it a couple of blocks. Other than those few crawls with him on the leash (I can hardly call them "walks" since I basically stumble along slooooowly as if I already have one foot in the grave up to the kneecap) I've not been out of the house since the day of New Years Eve when I suddenly got struck down by this evil illness.
Anywho, Yoshi's been fine - not a single symptom at all. I'm still a little worried about the yard since the weather turned wet and warm, and I just couldn't get outside to pick up his doodies at all for the first four or five days. I honestly don't know how I was able to crawl out of bed at all to let him in and out and feed him in those first few days. Though in those first few days he hovered like a nosy old auntie watching me constantly with a worried expression which I confess made me nervous that he thought I was really going to die. After about a week though he stopped hovering and was pretty much his usual self, so I didn't really think I'd live after all until then.
Now he's getting antsy though since I still can't run around with him, and he's been getting into mischief. He ate one of my pillows, murdered his ladybug cover for one of his wiggly giggly balls and then murdered the ball, threw one of his farting hedgehogs in his water bowl and another one in the bathtub that I had filled with water so he could entertain himself with his tubby toys. Yesterday it rained for a long time and the yard turned into a swamp, so of course he had to roll around in the mud and dig about 20 new craters. I somehow worked up the energy to hose him off a bit and then he ran in the house and threw his wet mucky self right in the bed. I ended up sleeping on the sofa last night since I just couldn't be arsed to strip the bed and go up and down the basement steps dealing with the laundry machines. I'm going to have to start playing fetch with him up and down the stairs to drain off some of that excess energy he's got which is pretty easy for me since all I have to do is sit at the top of the stairs and pitch a toy over and over for him to run up and down for. At least he's not eaten the sofa (yet)... good thing too, since I'll likely be sleeping on it again tonight since I still just can't face doing the sheets he got all mucky and rolled around on.
So, I'm anxiously awaiting getting myself together enough to take a doodie sample to the vet to test, and crossing my fingers that he's got no more wormies. I really don't think he does (which means the yard is wormy-free as well) since it's been a month now and he's never showed a single symptom which by now he would have if he still had the creepy wormies or picked them up again. Still, I'll feel so much better about it once I get the verdict from the vet.
And now I'm going to let him back in the house, pray that he wasn't out there digging more craters and getting all filthy again and knit my butt into the sofa cushions where it will likely remain parked for some time. But I need to make a new ladybug cover for the new wiggly giggly ball I had to order since he ate one of them anyway. That will be my big accomplishment for the day other than finally taking a shower.
If you haven't gotten a flu shot, for the love of all that's holy GET ONE. I've never been this sick with the flu ever, and I seriously thought for those first few days it was going to really seriously kill me, and I know Yoshi thought so, too. This is one hell of a WHOPPER of a virus that could bring an elephant to it's knees.

1. I am sorry you were so sick
and it does sound terrible. Sounds like you are going to live though. I have not gotten a flu shot, and now you have me scared!!!
I sure hope that Yoshi is worm-free, and stays that way. Let's hope the yard is safe!
Get well.....Yoshi needs you.
