anyone use acupuncture for their dogs?

Princess pretty paws, part greyhound/retriever mix has bad knees. She had injured her left knee late summer 2010, at that time, the ohio state vet ortho resident warned me that her right knee would most likely need replaced/treated as well. Her left knee was replaced September 2010. I saw this am, she's licked off her fur on her right knee, so she's in pain....I've made an appointment back @ OSU for an ortho eval. I also called my regular vet for an acupuncture appointment for pain treatment.
I'm fretting over her...sweet old dog.

1. Used it on a horse once.

He injured himself, his left hock. It provided relief for him. Go ahead and fret. There is nothing better to fret over than a sweet old dog. Give her a kiss from Kansas I hope she gets relief, I bet she does.

2. Never used acupuncture, but

This is a very good website about knee injuries in dogs and options for treatment. We were told by the orthopedic vet that our 5-year-old yellow lab needed TPLO surgery and we scheduled it. But after doing some research and following the suggestions on this site, we cancelled the surgery because she is doing so much better and hardly shows any sign of an injury after only 4 weeks. She still has a ways to go, but she's on the mend. There's a ton of information there. It's worth a look. Good luck with your baby.

3. Yes. I used it on a dog with an injured back.

Amazing results. I was completely skeptical going in but I believe now.

My vet highly recommends both for joint and muscle pain relief for some conditions.
