Didn't work for them. Our younger dog will just stay under my desk and whine occasionally, but I think we need some valium for our older dog. She dug everything out of our closet to try to hide and then that still didn't help her feel safe, so she went to a different closet. And that didn't work, so she paced and panted and I seriously thought that our dog was going to have a heart attack. She's OK, but it's so tough watching her be so scared.

He hated fireworks with a passion. By the time the last one had been lit I was having evil fantasies about what I wanted to do to those people lighting them. I was determined to get his something from the vet but we lost him.

I thought our other GSD wasn't afraid of them. I was wrong. We had to five him a benadryl last night. There is something sad about a 110 pound dog shivering and whimpering. There were worse last night than they have been in several years. It sounded like bombs going off at times.

just make sure your vet tells you what dosage to give based on the animal's weight.

It's also safe for cats but the dosage is tiny. Again, consult your vet for the correct one.

She does have separation anxiety though - freaks out when I leave. I've been doing shorter trips (splitting up errands), changing my routine, paying no attention to her when I come and go etc ...

I know it takes some time, but I also plan to hit the vet up for some doggie valium the next time I'm there in case I need to go out for longer than a few hours. She went from being a stray (and who knows what before then) to a foster home that crated her for 9 hours a day while at work. And she is still young - Vet says definitely under 2 - so tons of pent up energy. We've only had her 3 months so I'm sure she'll calm down as she settles in.
