Quincy loves to snuggle in his binkie! It looks a lot like the same kind of binkie Yoshi has but his is tan rather than brown... I think it's that same soft lovely material though.

I have a bathrobe made out of the same stuff but unfortunately it's neon glow in the dark shocking red... I mean RED RED. Red was the only color they had left though, and it felt so wonderful (and was 50% off!) I had to buy it anyway. I wonder if I could bleach it out a little without messing up the material just so it isn't a sear-your-retinas color anymore. I wouldn't even mind a somewhat subdued red color very much... anything but this absolutely violent RED RED.

Why is the word "binkie" not accepted as a word by the spell checker??? Binkie IS a word! Everyone knows what a binkie is! LOL!

Not to be gross, but you know you could have one of those long nails lopped off and have it made into a piece of jewelry like a necklace or charm for a bracelet or something like that so long after Quincy is gone you could have a neat little keepsake of him that was a part of him. I kept one of my first Akitas baby teeth and one of Boo's nails and already have a baby tooth of Yoshi's put aside to do this. At first I thought it sounded a little weird, but they do a lovely job and polish them up really well so the end result looks really cool. I like the idea of having a little something physical that was a real part of them after they're gone.

I also heard on the news about a woman in a farming town about a couple hours drive from me that makes yarn out of dog hair. I've ALWAYS wanted to have yarn made out of the undercoat of my dogs to be made into a sweater or something... not just because it would be the warmest softest sweater in the world, but because once they're gone I could feel really close to them wearing it. One of my customer's wives makes yarn out of dog hair as well, but she can only do it if the hair is at least an inch and a half long, and the undercoat of Akitas just isn't quite long enough. I don't know why she needs it that long because the woman in Lancaster can do it with even short dog or cat hair... maybe my customer's wife isn't as good at it or has different equipment or a different method of doing it. The bit on the news was really interesting in how she prepares the hair and showed how her machine works to make the yarn. Hell, I'd love to learn to do it myself. I could make a hundred afghans, dozens of sweaters and scarves and gloves and socks with what comes out of my dog in just one spring shed! I can't remember the woman's name or anything else about her to find her, but I'll kill myself to find her! I can't knit though, so I'd have to get someone to knit a sweater or something for me. My sister is good at that, but she's... um... not exactly a very nice person. I doubt she'd do it for me even if I paid her. My mom can knit, too, but she has dementia, so... er... probably not a good idea to ask her. These days I'm happy if she remembers who I am through an entire conversation before suddenly stopping mid-sentence and saying "who are you again?" It's sad, but after so many years of this it's actually kind of funny sometimes. You can get into a really hilarious conversation sometimes when Mom isn't firing on hardly any of her mental cylinders. It's nice that she actually is happier when she's in a mental fog. Most people seem to get anxious and depressed with dementia, but Mom usually enjoys it when she's "out there". It's nuts though how even when she's in a thick fog and can't remember who I am she can still remember dozens of verses to old songs and poems she learned in grade school word for word. I always thought it was amazing she could do that when she was of healthy mind, but doing that when she's in a dementia fog is downright incredible.
