I think Stinky the Clown should host this group!

Certainly someone should, and Stinky would be a good choice.

2. I appreciate that and would be pleased to do it . . . . But . . . .

. . . . . I would feel lots better if we muster a slate of at least three people and get a vote going. Since polls aren't working, just a simple thread with names named ought to do it.

Whuddaya think?

3. Sure - whatever you would like to do.

I've just found this forum so I'm happy just looking at all the awesome pictures

Maybe there are other long-term members who are interested or would want to co-host.

10. I will name three choices, and we can have more than one host

so it doesn't have to be all on one person.

Stinky The Clown
NRaleighLiberal
Badgerpup

These are people I have seen here posting a lot. And that is why I went with this slate. Others???? Feel free to nominate yourself if you want, pet lovers.

7. I think Stinky would make a fine host.

Probably some help would be appreciated as well, though.

Not that this is a terribly contentious group or will have a lot of call for thread-locking, but it's pretty hard for one person to keep up with even one group 24/7.

appreciatively,
Bright

8. You might be sorry you said we don't have a lot of drama here.

Wait until the anti-dog and anti-cat people find us. It might get ugly.

11. Nope, we don't allow them. But

without a host, how do we stop them??? We need the powers.

16. I'm Not Sure

I've been a member here for awhile but just found the pets group (and must admit I love it) but I have no idea about how to be a host. Posting here for me is kind of a new thing and I feel much safer in the pets group as opposed to fighting about politics ~ too much.

17. I heard today from Skinner.

It is simply a matter of backlog.

I asked:

Skinner, is the plan to have some of the smaller groups go unhosted?

There are a number of smaller groups that have no hosts. True enough, they have no history of discord, either, dating waaaaay back into DU2 history. Pets and DIY come to mind, but there are a number of others, too.

In the Pets group, I was asked to host. I have sent you emails in various formats - your DU mail, your regular internet email, and in a pinned thread where people ask to be hosts. I have heard nothing.

The advantage of having a host in these placid, out of the way groups is for such things as pinned threads (a picture thread of our pets in the Pets group, for example).

If, however, the plan is to let these groups go unmoderated, that's your call and we'll live with it. But can we at least know where it stands? In the case of the Pets group, someone put up a thread asking me to be host. I asked for other volunteers but no one stepped forward, although many of the group regulars wanted a host.

Thanks.

To which he replied:

If a group wants hosts, then they get Hosts

I think the issue here is that I have not assigned any hosts since before Christmas. I have a backlog which I will address this week.

FWIW, I think there are plenty of groups that don't need hosts. But that's not my call.

So it is simply a matter of time.

I would still like to have cohosts. Is anyone interested?

19. We all get along

I think if you would like someone to co-host with you, you should ask them. Everyone here loves pets and animals so everyone fits the bill. LOL

I am a co-host of cancer support. That is another kind, loving group.
